Crown and bridge is a permanent, long lasting solution to replace missing teeth or repair teeth where a direct restoration (filling) would not be an option. This includes teeth that are broken or misshapen, or teeth that may have a hairline fracture and are causing sensitivity. With a bridge, we are able to replace a missing tooth by having a false tooth in the space that is anchored by the adjacent teeth which have crowns placed on them.
The process is usually two appointments. The first appointment we prepare the tooth which includes decay removal if applicable. We take an impression of your teeth and send it to a lab. A temporary crown or bridge may be placed between the first and second appointment. On the subsequent visit, we ensure the fit of the crown or bridge is ideal. The crown or bridge is then cemented using a permanent cement. Crowns and bridges can be made from zirconia, porcelain fused to metal, or gold.
