Sealants are a thin, protective coating used to effectively “seal” the chewing surfaces of your back teeth (molars and premolars). These teeth tend to have un-even anatomy that makes them susceptible to leftover food and bacteria, of which can cause cavities in your tooth.
The procedure is fast and painless. First we place a gel on the tooth which gets rinsed off after seconds. This gel lets us get a better bond between the tooth and sealant. After rinsing off and then drying the tooth, the sealant is placed. A blue light is then used to harden the sealant.
The procedure is an effective way for prevention or progression of cavities. Best of all, it can be done for adults and children.
